1 min read

A man is before the courts in relation to a series of thefts and burglaries in Motueka.

On Tuesday 29 July, Police were called to High Street after a burglary was believed to have occurred on Monday.

After following multiple lines of enquiry, Police executed a search warrant at a local address, where a 26-year-old man was located.

The man was taken into custody without incident.

Police also located a number of items believed to have been previously stolen in other incidents.

The 26-year-old is due to appear in Nelson District Court today, charged with five counts of burglary and one count of theft.

Police urge the public to be vigilant and to keep an eye out for each other.

There are quick jobs that can be as simple as storing equipment away from public view, and locking gats and sheds.

A top tip, is to photograph your important assets and possessions like equipment and tools, along with any serial numbers. This is the most effective way to be reunited with your property if it is stolen and recovered.
