Part of SH6 in Marlborough closed following fatal

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle early this morning on State Highway 6 between Pelorus and Havelock, Marlborough.

Police were called to the incident at 12:15am.

As the Serious Crash Unit is in attendance the road will be closed until around midday when Police endeavour to open one lane.

A detour is in place via State Highway 63, drivers please be aware this detour will add around 1 hour and 20 minutes to travel time.

Police hope to have both lanes open by the end of the day.
