Pleasing response to crime show appeals

1 min read

Police want to thank the community for calls made to crime show Police Ten-7 last about two cases in the Bay of Plenty.

The programme featured the case of 20-year-old Israel Jack as well as an appeal to locate wanted Taupo man Teina Williams. Over 20 calls were received in regard to the two cases providing a number of lines of enquiry to follow through.

Teina Williams is no longer being sought. He was arrested this morning on SH5 in the Taupo area after a short pursuit when the vehicle he was travelling in failed to stop for police.

Detective Senior Sergeant Zane Smith, who is leading the Israel Jack investigation, said: "The fact we are still receiving calls from the public and are still being provided with new information to follow through on is very pleasing. It shows that the community is motivated to help, and the investigation team is equally motivated to find out exactly how Mr Jack died and whether others had a hand in his death."

Police still want to hear from anyone who was on Te Ngae Road, Owhata Road or in and around the Te Ngae shopping centre between 4am and 5am on Sunday, 18 August.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Rotorua Police on 07 348 0099. Alternatively information can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Media enquiries should be referred to Communications Manager Kim Perks on 027 234 8256.
