Police investigate shooting in Kaitaia

About 4.30am today several shots were fired from a car that was driving outside a Kaitaia address.

Northland Criminal Investigations Manager Detective Inspector Kevin Burke said during the incident a 26-year-old old man, who was standing outside, received gunshot wounds.
He was taken to Whangarei Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police are investigating the incident, which they believe may be gang related, and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
