Police investigating cause of fatal truck crash

1 min read

Police remain at the scene of a crash on SH30 which has killed one and injured four.

Initial enquiries indicate that a fully laden logging truck lost control and collided with a ute resulting in the death of one man in the ute. A woman from that ute is in a stable condition in Rotorua Hospital and a child from that ute is expected to be discharged after assessment. Ages are still to be confirmed.

A log which fell from the truck struck a second ute and a woman from that vehicle is in a stable condition in Rotorua Hospital.

The truck driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries and was not admitted.

A serious crash investigation is underway to establish the cause of the crash. It was raining at the time but it is too early to say if the weather was a factor.
