Police responding to serious crash in Queenstown

Police and emergency services are responding to a serious crash on Gorge Road in Queenstown.

Police were called about 10.30am to reports of a single vehicle crash near the Gorge Road Retail Centre.

It is understood the vehicle has come down a bank and become stuck between a building and the bank.

The driver and single occupant of the vehicle is seriously injured and is being taken to hospital.

The Serious Crash Unit, along with ambulance and Fire and Emergency, are also in attendance.

Part of Gorge Road is closed and is expected to be closed for some time.

Diversions are in place and motorists are being asked to avoid the area if possible and use an alternative route.
