Police seek help to identify offender in Onehunga indecent assault

Auckland City Police are seeking help from the public to identify and locate a man responsible for an indecent assault which occurred in Onehunga on Sunday 27 March.

Police say the incident is similar to other offences which have occurred in the area recently and Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

The latest incident hapened around 2.50pm on Sunday 26 March when a woman was walking through the walkway from State Ave, Onehunga.

Detective Sergeant Dave Paea said: ”The woman was approached from behind by a man who then grabbed her with both hands and fondled various parts of her body.”

"The incident only lasted a matter of seconds but any attack of this nature can be absolutely terrifying for those involved and we are keen to hear from anyone who may have either witnessed this or other similar offences in the area recently."

The man was last seen running back up the walkway to State Ave. He is described as, being light skinned, aged in his mid teens, of slender build and around 160-170cm tall. He has short light brown hair but possibly dyed a brassy yellow colour. He was last seen wearing a light grey hoody (with the hood up) with dark grey knee length shorts, board shorts style or similar and was barefoot.
