Police urge care after crash kills one and leave three critical

Police are urging drivers to take extra care on the roads, particularly around intersections, after a crash that has claimed one life and left three critically injured in the Bay of Plenty.

The crash occurred at approximately 8am on State Highway 2, near Te Puke at the intersection of Wilson Road. A car containing three men and two women turned right out of Wilson Road to travel south on State Highway colliding with a truck and trailer heading north.

One man from the car died. Two women and a man are critical and the third man suffered minor injuries. The truck driver was not hurt.

The road remains closed as police investigate the cause of the crash.

This is the second fatal crash in the Bay of Plenty District this week and police are urging everyone to plan their trips, take their time, abide by all road rules and drive to survive.
