Land SAR volunteers and Police are searching for a 15-year-old girl lost with her dog in the Wainuiomata hills.
The young girl entered the bush earlier today and is believed to be in the bush between Wainuiomata and Eastbourne. She was last heard from at about 2pm when she called on her cell phone to say she was lost.
Land SAR volunteers and Police are searching the area together with a police dog while the Westpac Rescue Helicopter is searching the area from above.
The young girl is with her dog an, english bull terrier. She is described as Caucasian of slight build with long brown hair. She was wearing denim jeans with a black puffer jacket and purple sneakers.
Anyone who has seen a young girl fitting the above description in the Wainuiomata Hills area today is asked to contact Wellington Land SAR on 021 190 5758.
