Suspicious package secured by Wellington Police

1 min read

Wellington Police have secured a package delivered to the Parliament mailroom today with the assistance of the Army's Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.

Police were advised at around 3.50pm and the package was secured shortly after 6.00pm. An initial examination of the package has shown it may be similar to a package received in Auckland this morning which referenced Ebola. It contained a document and a small plastic bottle with a small amount of liquid in it.

The package has now been sent to ESR to undergo forensic testing. An investigation is now underway which will work to establish any links between the packages.

There is no further information available at this time.
