Counties Manukau Police have arrested three people today following an operation targeting the Tribesmen gang.
Police searched four addresses in Flatbush, Otara and Manurewa locating cannabis and ephedrine which is used in the production of methamphetamine.
The three arrested now face a raft of charges including possession and supply of Class B and C substances.
Those arrested were aged 21 and the other two were 29. The 21-year-old is a patched Tribesmen member.
Half a kilogram of Ephedrine was found in the raids which has a street value of $60-thousand-dollars, however, when used to manufacture methamphetamine could potentially reach up to $375-thousand-dollars. The amount of cannabis found has a street value of almost $20-thousand-dollars.
Detective Senior Sergeant Albie Alexander says the coordinated search at the identified addresses went without incident and is the culmination of a number of months of hard and exhaustive work by the Counties Manukau Organised Crime team.
“Police will hold offenders to account who try to spread harm through our community by supplying and selling these illicit drugs. Organised Crime and Drugs is one of the identified drivers of crime and remains a focus for Police.”
Counties Manukau East Pacific Advisory Board member Poutoa Pailate Papali’I says Drugs and organised crime is a plight on our community and we will not tolerate it.
“Instead I encourage everyone to work together to eliminate this for the future of our young people and our communities. If you have any information on any drug dealing or organised crime, please contact your local police or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
