Police have now carried out a thorough search at the Dundale Avenue house in Blockhouse Bay.
The address was the subject of an armed Police response this morning, after information was received about a man seen going into the property, with what appeared to be a firearm under his top.
Armed officers cleared the address and the man was not located, however a firearm was found hidden there.
Enquiries to locate a person of interest are ongoing.
