Update on investigation into child's death in Onehunga

1 min read

Police investigating the death of a child in Onehunga on Friday morning are awaiting further test results to establish how the child died.

Detective Senior Sergeant Glenn Baldwin, Auckland City Police, says a post mortem examination was carried out yesterday afternoon, but was inconclusive, and further test results are expected on Tuesday.    Efforts to contact family members overseas are ongoing, and Interpol is assisting with this. The child's name will not be released until all next of kin have been advised.    "The death of any child is tragic and we are doing everything we can to support the child's family. The investigation is continuing and will be reassessed on Tuesday when we get the test results" says Det Snr Sgt Baldwin.   ENDS   Beth Bates/ NZ Police
