Update on Strathallan St death

Police can now confirm the 51 year-old female who was found deceased at a Strathallan St address was Karin Ann Ross of Dunedin.

As a result of the post-mortem and a detailed scene examination, Police have upgraded the investigation to a homicide.

Police and specialist staff including ESR forensics will continue working through the weekend and have completed the scene examination at the Strathallan St address. There are a number of other scene examinations continuing around the Dunedin area in relation to this incident.

The Criminal Investigation Branch are following up on positive lines of inquiry.

Police are working closely with the family and Victim Support are assisting them at this difficult time. 

Police are wanting to speak with any member of the public who was in or around the area of Strathallan Street  between midnight and 2am on Wednesday morning the 2nd of December, including shift workers who noticed any activity, and ask them to contact the Dunedin Police on 03 471 4800.

Alternatively, information can also be provided anonymously via the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Due to a homicide investigation being launched, police are unable to provide any further details at this time. Further information, when available, will be released via the police website.
