Canterbury Police are able to name the victim of the fatal single vehicle crash that occurred on Maronan Bridge at approximately 4.40pm yesterday afternoon (8 September 2015). He was 62 year old David John Tayles from Tinwald.
The death has been referred to the Coroner. Canterbury Police and Victim Support are working with David's family who are extremely upset at this tragic time.
Senior Constable Mike Seque says "David's family would like to thank those who went to David's aid yesterday and ask for privacy. They would also like to thank their extended family, neighbours and friends for their support"
Canterbury Police investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing.
