Wanaka Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault in the early hours of this morning, Saturday 26 August.
Around 1:30am, a 27-year-old male has been located unconscious behind BP service station on Ardmore Street, Wanaka.
It is believed the man was kicked in the head however the victim is still to be spoken to.
He was taken to Dunedin Hospital and is in serious but stable condition.
Police are making enquiries to establish the circumstances around the assault and are asking that anyone with information contact Police.
