Warrants in Christchurch nab Riccarton bus exchange offenders

1 min read

Police executed search warrants on two Christchurch addresses yesterday and today.  Police have now spoken to several people who were at the addresses and some items of interest have been found.   Clothing connecting the occupants to  an assault were located as well as cannabis plants and ammunition.

The search warrants were a result of the investigation into the assault of a lone man at the Riccarton Bus Shelter in late March.  A man aged 19 was arrested today and was jointly charged with the others.   Two men aged 19 and 21  and three youths, two aged 15 and one aged 16 spoke with Police yesterday and two will be charged with Wounding with intent.

All the offenders will appear  in the Christchurch Youth  Court on 5th April 2016.

“Yesterday we spoke to these males and found that they were all known to police and are satisfied that they have been charged correctly for the offending, however the investigation is still on-going.  It’s a cowardly attack on a lone man that left his car damaged, him with injuries and understandably shaken.

We would like to thank the members of the public who assisted us with this investigation and remind people to contact police or anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111 with any information that may help police with inquiries, says Det Senior Sergeant Leairne Dow.
