Wellington Team preparing for early morning search warrant

Hot on the heels of last week's successful arrest, early this morning over 20 Police staff from across the Wellington District executed two search warrants in Waitangirua and Cannons Creek.

In a true team effort, members of CIB, frontline staff and the dog section converged on the two properties and successfully arrested one male suspect who is wanted in connection with ten commercial burglaries throughout Wellington, Kapiti Mana and the Hutt Valley.

"We've been working long hours to identify a suspect in the recent spate of burglaries across the District," said Detective Sergeant Ben Quinn. "It is great to have this hard work pay off and sends a strong message to other offenders that we will throw everything we have at these cases to identify a suspect and bring them to a successful prosecution".

Evidential material was found at both locations and a vehicle has been seized for further forensic examination.

"Our enquiries are continuing," said Detective Sergeant Quinn. "I am confident that further arrests will follow".

The man is due to appear in Porirua District Court today.
