Police investigating a fatal crash in Westland yesterday morning have confirmed the woman who died was Yi-Chieh FENG, a 30 year old tourist from Taiwan.

She was a passenger in a rental car being driven by a 31 year old man, also from Taiwan. The driver was not seriously injured in the crash.

A serious crash investigation is under way to establish the cause of the crash and the death has been referred to the Coroner.

Police ask that anyone who was driving on SH6 between Fox Glacier and Haast yesterday morning between 6am and 10am make contact as we would like to discuss the road conditions with them as part of the investigation.

Anyone with information should call Detective Sergeant Gavin Nichols at Greymouth Police Ph 7681600.
