Wing 316 Graduation

Weeks of hard work come to fruition for 79 new constables today as Wing 316 graduates from the Royal New Zealand Police College.

Wing Patron Governor-General Dame Patsy Reddy, Deputy Commissioner Mike Clement on behalf of the Commissioner of Police and Minister of Police Stuart Nash will be at the ceremony.

The wing is made up of 23 women and 56 men, the oldest graduate is 50-years-old and the youngest 19.

A florist, physiotherapist, electrician and four former Police communications emergency call takers are among those graduating.

There are also ten graduates following the footsteps of family members.

Tayla Glossop, who is the daughter of Counties Manukau South Area Commander Inspector Dave Glossop, is among them and also won the Driver Training and Road Policing Practice Award.

Jenna Howard’s father, Sergeant Colin Howard, is currently a regional dog trainer in Auckland.

The graduation will be held this afternoon (Thursday 26 July) at the Royal New Zealand Police College in Porirua, between 2pm and 3.30pm.

Commissioner’s Award for Leadership – Constable Sarah Ngere, Waitemata.

Patron’s Award – Constable Grace Allan, Southern.

Minister’s Award – Constable Zoe Bennett, Wellington.
