Wellington Police have arrested a 41-year-old man in relation to a series of incidents in Kilbirnie on Sunday 3 February.

Between midday and 6pm, several women reported being indecently assaulted in the Kilbirnie Plaza and Bay Road area.

The man was arrested that afternoon following information from a member of the public, who reported a man matching the offender's description behaving suspiciously.

The 41-year-old appeared in Wellington District Court yesterday on two counts of indecent assault and has been remanded in custody to reappear next month.

Police would like to reassure the community that there is not believed to be any further risk now that this man has been arrested, however the investigation continues and Police are appealing for witnesses.

It is also possible that there are other victims from last weekend who may not have contacted Police.

Anyone who was in the area of Kilbirnie Plaza and Bay Road on Sunday between midday and 6pm and may have experienced or witnessed suspicious behaviour should contact Wellington District Crime Squad  on 04 3812077.
