A woman tramper has been reported missing after becoming separated from her companions in Kahurangi National Park.
Thirty five year old Siobhan Flynn was with an extended family group of five who had entered the area from Mt Arthur. The group stayed Saturday night at Salisbury Hut before departing for Karamea Bend on Sunday morning.
Along the way the group became separated. Four members made it to Karamea Bend, but Ms Flynn never arrived.
The group stayed Sunday night at Karamea Bend before one tramped back out via Mt Arthur and raised the alarm today.
Police Search and Rescue Coordinator Sergeant Steve Savage said Ms Flynn was last seen about 10am on Sunday. He said an entry in a hut log book discovered this afternoon suggested Ms Flynn had suffered an accident and then met up with an American woman and would now be heading back to Nelson.
Police would like to hear from anyone who has seen Ms Flynn and are appealing for Ms Flynn to contact Police.
Ms Flynn is an Irish national who normally resides in Melbourne. She was carrying a small Kathmandu backpack and wears a red bandana. She had minimal food and equipment with her.
