Two days into their new roles, Henderson’s newest constables demonstrated exceptional professionalism and courage during a life-or-death situation at Alderman Park.
While en route to another job on 28 November, the team noticed a woman in visible distress. Acting swiftly, they stopped to check on her. Moments later, she lost consciousness and stopped breathing.
What followed was a textbook example of teamwork under pressure. Officers immediately started CPR and provided lifesaving care until the woman regained a pulse. She was then safely handed over to ambulance staff and transported to hospital, where she has since made a full recovery.
“Three of the staff were brand-new police officers, recently graduated from the Auckland RNZPC Campus, only on their second day as fully sworn members of the Henderson Beat Team," says Waitematā West Area Communities Manager, Senior Sergeant Greg Wilson.
“To step into such a critical situation so early in their careers and perform with confidence and composure speaks volumes about their training, commitment, and character.”
