Emergency services are at the scene of a serious crash that has blocked State Highway 1 between Maromaku and Kawakawa.
The two-vehicle crash was reported to Police about 4.30pm.
One person is reported to have critical injuries and is being airlifted to hospital.
SH1 has been closed while the Serious Crash Unit carries out a scene examination.
Diversions are in place and Police are asking motorists to expect delays and avoid the area if possible.
Please note heavy vehicles are not able to travel north on Ruapekapeka and must divert to SH15.
