State Highway 1 is closed between Ōtaki and Waikanae after a petrol tanker fire this morning.
Police were alerted to the incident around 5.10am.
There are no reports of injuries.
The highway is closed this morning with diversions in place in both directions.
Motorists are advised to expect delays.
