Traffic Inspector John Kehoe

In Whakatāne, after pursuing a motorcycle driven at excess speed, from the main street to the outskirts of town, Traffic Inspector Kehoe was shot several times by the driver.  

The offender’s body was found a week later in an orchard in Awakeri, a small settlement outside Whakatāne. He had shot himself.
