Northland motorists urged to take care during wet weather

1 min read

Police are urging motorists to take care during today’s wet weather.

Northland has experienced a number of fine days in the last few weeks and today’s rain has made the roads more treacherous.

There have been three crashes this morning; one on State Highway 14 near Dargaville and another in the town, one on the Brynderwyn Hills and one at Bulls Gorge south of Kerikeri.

Motorists travelling along State Highway 14 towards Dargaville have reported that parts of the road are slippery due to the wet weather.

Northland Road Policing Manager Inspector Wayne Ewers says motorists need to slow down in these conditions and not follow too closely.
“The posted speed limit is not a target and it takes a lot longer to stop if you have to put the brakes on when driving on a wet road.”
