Serious crash - SH 1, Kaiapoi

A pedestrian has been critically injured after being struck by a truck on State Highway 1, Kaiapoi.
 
There is heavy traffic in the area, which is building up following the crash. 
 
Diversions are in place, however motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible.
