Going missing is not a crime. Police are involved in the location of missing persons because we are best placed to provide appropriate resources and to ensure that missing persons are located as quickly as possible. While going missing is not a crime, being away from normal support networks can make a missing person more vulnerable to becoming a victim of crime or committing a crime to stay missing.
