Waitematā Police have this morning shut down a suspected methamphetamine manufacturing laboratory after executing a search warrant in Riverhead.

Operation Tugboat was targeting a group with links to the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club, believed to be involved in the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

Detective Senior Sergeant Josh Lautogo says the investigation led officers to a Ridge Road address, in north-west Auckland, with officers executing a search warrant at 5.30am.

"A search of the property found sufficient equipment and chemicals to identify the site as a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory.

"Items located included hydrochloric acid, flasks, a condenser, and caustic waste from a previous methamphetamine cook."

Two people residing at the property were taken into custody without incident.

Senior Sergeant Joshua Lautogo says investigators will continue to target those manufacturing illegal drugs.

"This result reflects Police's ongoing focus on disrupting organised crime groups involved in the manufacture and supply of illicit drugs."

A 55-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman will appear in Waitākere District Court tomorrow, charged with manufacturing methamphetamine.

ENDS.
