Arrests following alleged shooting, Hamilton

Three people have been arrested following an alleged shooting at a property in Dinsdale, Hamilton earlier this week.

Hamilton City Area Commander, Inspector Scott Miller says Police were notified at around 2:15am on Monday 24 August that a person had sustained injuries consistent with a gunshot wound following an incident at an address on Dinsdale Road. 

“The victim was transported to hospital with injuries requiring treatment, but has since been discharged.

“On Thursday, a warrant was executed at an address in Melville, with the assistance of the Armed Offenders Squad and specialist groups, where three people were located and arrested.”

Police also located an air pistol and drugs at the address.

Two men, aged 25 and 29, and a 25-year-old woman are due to appear in Hamilton District Court today. 

The 25-year-old man has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and unlawful possession of prohibited ammunition, the 29-year-old man faces charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of methamphetamine. The woman, 25, faces a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Inspector Miller says the investigation remains ongoing and further charges have not been ruled out. 

“This is a result of hard work from a number of dedicated workgroups who have worked tirelessly from Monday night to get us this outcome.

“We want to send a clear message that these acts of violence are not welcome in our community, and we will work to hold anybody who commits such offences to account.”
