Staff visited Gisborne Girls' High School recently to speak to Year 12 and 13 students about a career in Police. With our female officers in the group all being former students, it was a great opportunity to return to share their stories and experiences as well as answer any questions the students had.
Police Search and Rescue staff have been putting in the hard yards in the classroom and on training exercises like this one to learn challenging technical rope skills and become advanced rope rescue technicians. The training helps prepare them to safely rescue victims in inaccessible locations and make good decisions under pressure.
New Zealand Police has partnered with Netball New Zealand to promote Police as a career suitable for women of all ages and stages of their netball career. Police in Canterbury were excited to support the Trident Homes Tactix for their first game of the season as well as fans who wanted to test their grip strength when they stopped to chat.
