The Policing Amendment Bill Proposed changes 2026

This material relates to two proposals which amend the Policing Act 2008.

The Policing Amendment Bill (the Bill) was introduced to the House of Representatives on 18 March 2026. It was considered by the Justice Select Committee from 24 March 2026 and was reported back to the House on 6 July 2026. The latest version of the Bill is available on the government’s Legislation website.
