Coral’s body found

1 min read

Police have this morning found the body of six year old Coral Burrows.

Detective Inspector Rod Drew, head of Operation Reef, says Coral’s body was found about 9.15am in bush near Lake Onoke (Ferry), on Wairarapa’s south coast.

Coral’s family has been advised.

Police hope Coral’s body will be recovered from the scene as quickly as possible. She will be taken to Wellington Hospital for a post mortem examination.

It’s anticipated officers will be at the scene for the rest of the day.

Mr Drew paid tribute to the dedicated efforts of the search and investigation teams involved in Operation Reef.

&#34The support from police and civilian search volunteers who have spent hours in the field, from people in the community who have provided food, accommodation, messages and other goodwill, and from a very professional investigation team has been just incredible.

&#34I know the community support is providing some comfort to Coral’s family during this very sad time.&#34
