Shooting arrest

A 36 year-old Birkdale man, shot by a Police Officer in the suburb on Tuesday April 20, has been arrested and charged with attempted murder and assault with a weapon.

The man, currently recovering from his injuries in Auckland Hospital, will face the charges at a bedside North Shore District Court hearing in the hospital on Friday.

Officer in charge of the investigation, acting Detective Inspector Gary Davey of the North Shore CIB, said the man was notified of his arrest this morning.
