Shot man remanded

Michael Aliimatafitafi, the 36 year-old Birkdale man shot by Police on April 20, was remanded in custody without plea today after a hospital bedside North Shore District Court appearance where he was charged with attempted murder and assault with a weapon.

Aliimatafitafi will remain in Auckland Hospital for at least the next few days but will transfer to the infirmary at Mt Eden Prison once he’s discharged. His next Court appearance is scheduled for May 14. A psychiatric assessment has been ordered.
