Two dead on Banks Peninsula

Two are confirmed dead and one critically injured in an accident involving defence vehicles on Banks Peninsula this afternoon.

The critically injured person was flown to Christchurch Hospital however the two bodies have not yet been recovered. Emergency services are still there
There are no details about the deceased available at this time.

The accident was reported to police just after 2pm today. A defence force vehicle left Bossu Road, near Reynolds Valley Road, falling 300- 400 metres.

Police personnel including Commercial Vehicle Investigation Unit, (CVIU) photography are investigating the crash, assisted by the ACR, Alpine Face Rescue team, who are making the scene safe.
