Gallery break-in

1 min read

Two paintings, collectively worth $22,500, were stolen from a Parnell art gallery at about 5.40 this morning.

The thieves smashed a window to gain entry to the International Art Centre on Parnell Rd and made off with the art.

A nearby witness notified Police immediately. Police who are also appealing to anyone who might know where the paintings are to contact them are examining the scene for clues. [See attached pics].

One painting – worth $18,000 – is called Cobb and Co. Coach, Mt Cook, and is by Peter Beadle. It is 59cm by 90cm. The other, called Natura Morta, is by Paolo Canetti and is worth $4,500.

Anyone with information should contact Constable Steve Meade at Auckland Central Police Station on 302 6573.
