Man died after fall

1 min read

A pathologist has advised Police investigating the death of a man whose body was found yesterday afternoon near the Metropolis Hotel in Auckland City, that he died as a result of a fall from a height.

Detective Senior Sergeant Julian Rinckes said the man was Asian and is believed to be in his 20s.

"We have had some suggestions about who he is and we’re making inquiries to confirm his identity so that we can advise next of kin of his death," Mr Rinckes said.

"It’s too early to tell whether or not this man’s death was suspicious, but our inquiries are continuing in order to establish the circumstances of his death."

Police hope to be able to release the dead man’s name in the next day or so. The pathologist said the man could have been lying dead where he was found, for up to a week, possibly even longer.
