Operation Wellington victim not sexually violated

1 min read

Operation Wellington is the investigation into the brutal and callous killing of 83 year old Mrs Mona Morriss at Marton on 03 January 2005.

Previously Police have said that there were elements of Mrs Morriss’ murder that possibly pointed to sexual activity by the killer during the brutal attack.

Police can confirm that Mrs Morriss was not sexually violated by the killer.

Detective Sergeant Smith says:

"There is still a sexual aspect to the crime scene that Police need to consider, but this is likely only to be determined when the killer is caught, and the person’s motivation or actions explained.

I am also confident that Mrs Morriss was murdered on the evening of Monday 03 January. She was last seen alive at approximately 5.00pm, and we believe the murder occurred between 5.00pm and 9.00pm.

I will not, however, be commenting further on the reasons why these time frames have been determined."
