The death of an elderly woman whose body was found in McFarlane Park Mairehau, just before noon, is being investigated by Christchurch Police.
It appears the elderly woman was out walking this morning. Her body was discovered at 11.50am by a member of the public who called an ambulance.
Detective Inspector Malcolm Johnston says that it is possibly a natural death however it is standard police procedure to treat such deaths as serious until proven otherwise.
