Police hunt for scene of assault

1 min read

Police investigating the circumstances that led up to a man being found outside Foxton police station with serious injuries, are trying to find the scene of what they believe was a vicious assault.

Enquiries suggest that having been assaulted the 19-year-old man was taken by a vehicle to Foxton town centre and then carried or dragged from the vehicle to the police station and left outside.

Two officers inside the building heard moans from outside and went they went to investigate found him lying unconscious. It is not known how long he had been lying there before the officers were alerted.

The victim is described as being in a stable condition in Wellington Hospital but the nature of his injuries mean that his condition is potentially life-threatening.

Acting Detective Sergeant Johnny Oram said: "At the very least there is a vehicle which would have a signs of blood inside. We believe there will also be a scene somewhere in the Foxton area, again with signs of blood. It is too early to say whether or not a weapon was used in the assault but we would certainly be interested in anything that is found that may be connected."

There is nothing at this stage to suggest that the incident is gang related.
