Injured child dies

A three-year-old girl found critically injured at a house in Palmerston North yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, 19 August) has died.

Police and ambulance were called to a house in Hulme Street around 1.20pm where they found a three-year-old girl unconscious. The girl was taken to Palmerston North Hospital in a critical condition and sadly she died just before noon today with family members by her bedside.

A police investigation into how the girl received her injuries is ongoing. She was at a house with three other children under the age of 10 and one adult male. The girl is not being named at this stage and her connection with the other people at the house is also not being disclosed.
