Attempted aggravated robbery at Shirley

1 min read

About 7.10pm last night, Wednesday 2 September, two males went into the Park Dairy in Acheson Avenue, Christchurch.

One male holding what is believed to be a large screwdriver in his hand put a plastic Pak'n'Save bag on the counter and demanded money from the sole shop keeper.

The shop keeper retreated to the back room, grabbed a metal bar and returned to the shop. The two males left empty handed and ran to a dark coloured 4 door sedan waiting nearby which sped off towards Hills Road.

The males are described as:

Male 1 Slim build, 170cm tall, part Maori, 16 to 18 years old with possible acne blemishes on his face. He was wearing a dark red hoody with a check pattern

Male 2 Slim build, 167 cm tall, part Maori, 16 - 18 years old, wearing dark clothing.

The shop keeper spoke with a passing motorist who attempted to follow the offender's vehicle.

Police would like to speak to the driver of the car that assisted and anyone with any information that may assist. Please contact Detective Sergeant Sarah ILLINGWORTH at the Papanui Police on 374 1767.
