Huntly Police are seeking witnesses to a crash that left a male motorcyclist seriously injured and a toddler fighting for his life near Taupiri on Sunday.
Sergeant Juliet Burgess of the Huntly Strategic Traffic Unit said Police were yet to speak to anyone who had actually seen the crash occur.
"From what we've learnt so far we believe at least two vehicles didn't stop at the scene of the crash which happened on SH1 about 3pm.
"It appears the southbound car the three-year-old boy was a rear seat passenger in slowed to turn into a driveway and was struck in the rear by another vehicle shunting it into the path of the northbound motorbike."
Sergeant Burgess said the occupants of the vehicles that continued on their way may hold information vital to Police trying to establish what happened.
"We're asking for anyone who may have seen the actual crash who has not yet spoken to Police to contact the Huntly Police Station on 07 8287560.
