Woman assault victim still not located or identified.

1 min read

As at 3pm today Christchurch Police have still not located or identified an assault victim after a young woman was seen to be run over by a vehicle in the early hours of this morning.

"We are increasingly concerned that we have had no reports of any one missing who fits this description," says Detective Senior Sergeant Tom Fitzgerald. "We have had very good response from the public but are still seeking anyone who may not have returned home this morning."

Police are following a number of lines of inquiry and conducting extensive interviews and area canvas.

DSS Fitzgerald says that there is evidence at the Chester Street East scene that an incident has occurred and the scene examination is continuing. The scene with the burnt out vehicle at McLeans Island Road is also continuing and he thanks the public for their patience.

"We realise that this is causing great inconvenience for some people but while we still do not have a victim located or identified the scenes are of vital importance."
