1 min read

Police investigating the sudden death of a man whose body was found lying in a central city street in Hamilton on Sunday morning are awaiting the results of further examinations to determine the cause of death.

A post-mortem commenced in Auckland yesterday afternoon and this examination is continuing today.

Meanwhile Hamilton City Deployment Manager, Inspector Karen Henrikson, said reports of fighting in the area around where the man's body was found that officers were unable to attend were incorrect.

"There were incidents of disorder reported in the Central City that were attended by Police and these jobs were passed on to the inquiry team to work through to establish if there are any links to the man's death.

"This is the same process that would be followed in relation to any missing person reports over the period under investigation, the incidents are passed on to the inquiry team to work through in a thorough manner."
