Detectives investigating last week's arson attack on a unit at Redwood Retirement Village in Tawa hope some new tactics will provide fresh leads on the case.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Oxnam, Porirua CIB, said a police information and advisory caravan is being placed in the Tawa Mall from today and will be there all week in the hope new details about the arson attack will come in from the public.
It was a week last night that a near 79-year-old woman fled for her life from her burning home on Tawa's Main Road.
"Last night a team of ten Porirua CIB and Community Group officers closely patrolled the Tawa to Arohata area from 8pm to 1am," Detective Senior Sergeant Oxnam said. "We spoke to people who were working in the area, and others who were out and about, refreshing their memories of the arson and seeing if there was anything they could tell us about the events of last week.
"We'll have the caravan in place at Tawa Mall all week and will also be undertaking a leaflet drop in the area."
The arson attack will also feature tomorrow night, Tuesday 3 October, on Police Ten 7 on TV2.
Detective Senior Sergeant Oxnam urged people to call Porirua Police on telephone 238 1400 if they had any information which might help police find the arsonist.
