1 min read

A 46-year-old forestry worker was killed when he lost control of his vehicle on a rural Hawke's Bay road early yesterday morning.

Darren Malcolm Thomas died when he lost control of his Ford Courier 4x4 on a right-hand bend on Ohurakura Rd, Te Pohue, 45km north of Napier. Mr Thomas was on his way home when he crashed at 12.20am on Sunday.

Police say alcohol and speed may have been factors in the crash.

Sergeant Geoff Strother said Mr Thomas' vehicle rolled several times and he was thrown from the car. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
