As the service to mark a week since the devastating 6.3 earthquake hit Christchurch came to a close a quiet meeting was taking place to close a circle of trans-Tasman Police cooperation.

Superintendent John Todor of the Victorian Police is the officer in charge of his service's Specialist Response Division and is currently in Christchurch as part of a 330 strong Australian Police contingent.

Recently going through some historic photographs of the formation of his service's dog section he noticed that the first trainers to Victoria had come from Police in Christchurch.

"To that end I wanted to get a photographic recording of our return to assist the people who helped us as we work alongside them in the reassurance and rebuilding of Christchurch."
